Praise for Catherine Borgia

Praise from Stephen O'Connell >

Catherine Borgia with State Rep. Sandy Galef and Sen. Charles Schumer I believe that the best political candidate is the one who finds identification with the community. Further, a candidate brings emotional intelligence, sensibility, character, love and passion for the community.

In my culture I learned that voting is a privilege, and this privilege comes with a great responsibility. I have the privilege and the responsibility to vote for Catherine Borgia for Ossining town supervisor. She meets all the requirements to be one of the best leaders in Ossining. Her leadership, passion, love and character make her understand Ossining's potential. Advertisement

I met Catherine Borgia years ago at Park School. As time passed, I could see the arduous daily work that she puts in and the interest that she has to resolve community problems. Catherine Borgia's love for Ossining makes her reach the diverse members of the town, and she extends understanding to them. In addition, she realizes the advantages that these diverse groups bring to the community. Moreover, she recognizes that multi-cultural groups are individuals who make Ossining unique, benefiting our children by growing up in an emotionally healthy environment. Additionally, she sees that being part of a diverse town creates opportunities for community success. She carefully works for Ossining's future and seeks the best for Ossining.

Join me and vote for Democratic candidate Catherine Borgia on Tuesday. Be part of Ossining's bright American future.

Ossining

I've known Catherine Borgia as a community leader for many years. Her accomplishments reflect her dedication to Ossining and are proof of the experience she will bring to the office of town supervisor.

Catherine has deep connections in the community that have allowed her to pull together a broad array of representatives to serve on the Comprehensive Plan Committee. She collaborates with other community leaders, leading key youth-centered initiatives as an executive board member of the Ossining Communities that Care coalition. Catherine is a founding member of the Inter-Municipal Leadership group, which addresses sharing of government services. She not only suggested a shared-services study to evaluate the effectiveness of the current inter-municipal agreements between the village and town, but Catherine wrote the successful grant proposal for the state funding that is making this study possible. Catherine fosters a sense of community through communication. She created an effective and very popular weekly e-mail blast to inform the public about all the wonderful events taking place in Ossining. She is frequently in touch with the media to keep them in the loop, which has resulted in much of the good press Ossining receives.

Catherine knows what it takes to get a job done and accomplishes what she sets out to do. As supervisor, that will be to keep Ossining and Briarcliff vital and wonderful places to live. Please vote for Catherine Borgia for Ossining Town Supervisor.

Catherine Borgia has proven herself to be a good financial watchdog (I wouldn’t go so far as to say pit bull) of the public purse. She’s experienced in developing municipal budgets and she led the charge to reduce the Village’s 2008 budget when it was clear that the economy was taking a turn for the worst.

I strongly believe Catherine will bring this expertise to bear on the Town’s fiscal affairs – cutting costs thru thorough review of administrative costs and exploring cost-sharing of municipal services with our neighboring municipalities. As Supervisor she will continue to work to professionalize Town services and assure more efficient management and elimination of duplication of services – all leading to a more effective, less wasteful Town budget. Catherine has an MBA from New York University and a 15-year marketing and PR career that have sharpened her financial skills.

I’m supporting Catherine for Town Supervisor because we need her brand of leadership.

It is imperative that Ossining's voters choose an experienced, qualified candidate to serve as town supervisor. I know that Catherine Borgia has the experience and expertise that Ossining needs to move forward. Catherine, who holds an MBA from NYU-Stern, has sat on Ossining's village board since 2004. In her capacity as a village trustee, I have seen that Catherine has been a vociferous voice for economic revitalization, transparent local government, careful planning and budgeting, and new cultural opportunities for Ossining's residents. Catherine's competence and commitment to the community are reflected in her work as a village trustee.

In her role as Assemblywoman Sandy Galef's chief-of-staff, Catherine has helped many Ossining residents by providing excellent constituent services. In her time at Sandy's office, Catherine has demonstrated a rare ability to work with competing interests at every level of government, making contacts and honing skills that will prove valuable to Ossining if she is elected. She embraces a practical, cooperative approach to governance that includes everyone and yields positive results.

Catherine's connections and political insight will make it easier for her to bring much-needed resources to the community. I hope that you'll join me in electing someone with the talent and commitment Ossining deserves -Catherine Borgia for town supervisor.

Catherine Borgia has always been saavy at bringing new people into an organization, making them feel wanted and appreciated, and helping them understand how important their contributions are. She is a consensus builder, a coalition builder, and someone who sees the big picture but does not ignore the need to bring the “little guy” in to make that big picture a reality. I have seen her shine in this role in her experience as a PTA leader for many years in the Ossining schools.

Catherine has a warm heart and when she sees an opportunity that will benefit Ossining, she is quick to embrace it. She was a founding member and sits on the executive board of Ossining Communities that Care, which is a coalition designed to protect Ossining’s youth and families. She also co-founded and is vice president of the Ossining Micro Fund, another organization she helped start because of her belief that it would help improve our community. Her intelligence and the relationships she has forged in the schools, at the state level working in Assemblywoman Sandy Galef’s office, and within the entire Ossining community are critical to the success of our town.

In order to ensure that we take full advantage of all of Catherine’s talent, intelligence, expertise and commitment to the betterment of Ossining, please join me in pulling the lever for Catherine Borgia for Town Supervisor on November 4th.
