Catherine Borgia: a Statement
My goals are to save taxpayer dollars through cost containment; adopt best practices for every Town function; continue and expand sharing of municipal services among the Town of Ossining and surrounding municipalities, county, and state government; provide more effective advocacy for the greater Ossining community; and encourage economic development. As a two-term member of the Ossining Village Board and Chief of Staff to Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, I have a deep understanding of how to work effectively in government and make difficult decisions. For example, earlier this year, as we saw the economic downturn deepening, I worked with my colleagues to trim over $340,000 off the Village’s budget. As a lifelong volunteer, I learned community-building leadership, passionate advocacy, and proactive problem-solving. I have leadership roles in the soon-to-be-adopted Comprehensive Plan, economic revitalization initiatives, and communication and outreach to Ossining residents and community groups. As an originator and founding member of the Inter-Municipal Leadership team, I initiated new opportunities to share services at every level of government in order to reduce costs and increase efficiencies. Your vote for me on the Democratic and Independence lines will be a vote for an improved and cost-efficient Town of Ossining. |
